Arsenal will aim to return to winning ways in the Premier League following a bitter defeat last weekend when they host Newcastle at the Emirates on Saturday.
ARSENAL RESULTS, STATS, SQUAD
Arsenal has been solid in the premier league since September and are with just one loss in their last eleven matches in all competitions. Arsenal have now seen five clean sheets in their last eight premier league matches. Their last premier league outing was a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool. The North Londoners have seven wins in their last eight games on home soil, with one draw, and their only loss came against Chelsea back in August. They currently sit 5th in the premier league standings with 20 points – nine adrift league leaders Chelsea. Granit Xhaka and Defender Sead Kolasinac remain sidelined with injuries. Kieran Tierney will look to return to left-back. Albert Sambi Lokonga will battle Ainsley Maitland-Niles for a place in midfield.
NEWCASTLE RESULTS, STATS, SQUAD
New manager Eddie Howe’s tenure as Newcastle boss started with a 3-3 draw with newly-promoted Brentford. However, COVID-19 prevented Eddie Howe from taking his place in the dugout for his first game in charge of Newcastle. Their last premier league was an entertaining one to watch as defender Jamaal Lascelles and Joelinton both netted for the Magpies on either side of Ivan Toney and Rico Henry’s strikes, before Allan Saint-Maximin stole a point for Newcastle with his 75th-minute equaliser after Lascelles’s own goal. Newcastle are still winless in the 2021-22 Premier League campaign and sit rock bottom of the rankings – five points adrift of safety. Defender Fabian Schar and Paul Dummet are unavailable for selection.
ARSENAL VS NEWCASTLE STATS, ODDS, PREDICTIONS
Arsenal has won the last five games between both teams in the premier league. Arsenal has won by two or more goals in four of their last six home games. Newcastle have failed to score against Arsenal in their last six meetings and their abysmal defensive record speaks for itself as two of their last three away losses have been by two or more goals. Emile Smith-Rowe has scored in each of Arsenal’s last two home games and is tipped to score here. A win for Arsenal is priced at 1.50 odds on Betking.
