Arsenal will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

ARSENAL RESULTS, STATS, SQUAD

Arsenal’s season looked to be on track after recovering from a poor start. However, they come into this fixture against Southampton having won once in their last four fixtures. They have let their performances slip in recent weeks as they have moved down to seventh in the Premier League table. The Gunners are now four points off the Champions League spot, losing three of their last four games in the premier league. Arsenal led 1-0 against Everton at HT in their last premier league outing but defensive frailties lose the game to Demerai Gray’s goal in the 94th minute and suffer back-to-back defeats in the premier league. Their home form is however a solace as they have lost just once at the Emirates this season. Arteta will rally his side to improve defensively, as they have conceded five goals in their last two games. Sead Kolasinac and Bernd Leno are injured and unavailable for the Gunners. Granit Xhaka made a surprise return to the starting XI last week and will continue alongside Thomas Partey in the midfield.

SOUTHAMPTON RESULTS, STATS, SQUAD

Southampton are sitting just outside the relegation places with a cushion of six points from 18th placed Burnley. The Saints have struggled in their most recent fixtures, with just one win in their last four premier league games. Southampton has struggled to find the back of the net this season, as only Norwich have scored fewer so far this premier league season. Southampton has lost more points from winning positions than any other team in the premier league including a 1-1 draw against Brighton in their last time out. Stuart Amstrong, Jan Bednarek, and Fraser Forster are ruled out with injury. It would be interesting to see Alex McCarthy start in goal after picking up a muscle injury against Brighton.

PREDICTION: ARSENAL WIN 1-0/2-0/2-1
