Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona La Liga Betting Tips, Predictions & Odds

Atletico Madrid welcome Barcelona to the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano in La Liga on Saturday. The home team are unbeaten in the league this season whilst Barcelona have won just three of their eight league games and sit six points behind their opponents.

Atletico Madrid have made an unbeaten start to the La Liga season with five wins and two draws in their seven matches. Diego Simeone’s side have the best defence in the league and are also scoring more goals per game than other team. Atletico Madrid have not lost a La Liga game since February, a run of 23 matches (14 wins, 9 draws). In their most recent match, Atletico beat Cadiz 4-0 at home. Joao Felix scored twice while Luis Suarez and Marcos Llorente added one each. In the Champions League, Atletico lost 4-0 away at Bayern Munich a month ago and drew 1-1 away at Lokomotiv Moscow prior to facing Cadiz. Atletico Madrid are missing Luis Suarez up front after the striker tested positive for COVID-19 and missed Uruguay’s last match. Sime Vrsaljko is injured at right back and two wingers are missing in Vitolo and Yannick Carrasco. Midfielder Hector Herrera is also absent for this game so Lucas Torreira could start.

It has been an underwhelming start to La Liga for Barcelona with three wins in their first seven matches (lost two and drew two). After two wins to start the season, they drew 1-1 at home to Sevilla, lost 1-0 at Getafe and 3-1 at home to Real Madrid before drawing 1-1 at Deportivo Alaves. In their last match, the Catalonians beat Real Betis 5-2. Lionel Messi scored twice as a substitute while Ousmane Dembele, Pedri and Antoine Griezmann also netted. In between their iffy league form, Barcelona have won all three of their UEFA Champions League matches including a 2-0 away win at Juventus in late October. Lionel Messi is fit to play after he was left on the bench in Barcelona’s last match. Ansu Fati is out injured on the left wing and Sergio Busquets is missing in midfield. Phillippe Coutinho missed two matches for Brazil but is close to a return from a hamstring strain.

Barcelona were the last side to win at Atletico Madrid back in December 2019 but the hosts are in good form and even without Suarez, they will fancy their chances of a win with Joao Felix on fire in attack. Atletico Madrid are undefeated in La Liga this season but we are backing a score draw.
