Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Betting Tips

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid La Liga Betting Tips & Preview

Barcelona face the stiffest test of their La Liga title run-in so far when they host Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou on Tuesday. With Real now two points clear at the top, how do Barcelona respond in this huge La Liga clash of second versus third?

Barca have let top spot slip to bitter rivals Real Madrid after dropping four points in the last three games following away draws at Sevilla (0-0) and then at Celta Vigo (2-2) on Saturday. It’s unusual to think of Barcelona as faltering, but away draws at Sevilla and Celta Vigo is what that is. The dropped points have handed the title advantage to Real Madrid, and Barca look set for a real fight if they are to retain the tag of La Liga champions.  Both of those draws came on the road, and they will welcome being back at the Camp Nou where they have won 15 of the last 16 matches. Barca will be without Frankie De Jong, Ousmane Dembele and Sergi Roberto for the visit of Atletico.

Atletico Madrid are on a four-match winning run in La Liga following Saturday’s 2-1 win over Alaves. They are also on a 12-match unbeaten run in all competitions since last losing to Real in the Madrid derby in February.  Diego Simeone’s side have kept three clean sheets in the last four wins and are back to their stubborn best. Sime Vrsaljko and Mario Hermoso are the only two absentees for Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona haven’t lost to Atletico Madrid in the last 19 head to heads in La Liga – a run dating back to 2010. Barca have won 15 of those 19 encounters.  Atletico have recorded wins in the Super Cup – the most recent match played in Saudi Arabia – and the UEFA Champions League during that time, but it is 10 years and counting since they last took all three points in a La Liga game against Barcelona. Barcelona may have dropped points in 2 of the last 3 games, but both draws were away from home. Back at Camp Nou, they are an attractive price to continue their winning record and maintain a 10-year dominance over Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
