German Bundesliga | Allianz Arena | 16th August 19.30

Bayern Munich and Hertha Berlin start the 2019/20 Bundesliga season at the Allianz Arena on Friday night. The Bavarians have scored 5+ goals in four of their last six home matches in the Bundesliga and can take advantage of a Hertha side getting used to a new manager.

Bayerm Munich won their seventh straight Bundesliga title last season after overturning a nine point deficit. Manager Niko Kovac also won the German Cup in his first season in charge of the Bavarians. Mats Hummels, Rafinha, James Rodríguez, Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben have all left the club but the defence has been reinforced with French World Cup winners Lucas Hernández and Benjamin Pavard.

Wingers Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry have a great chance to become mainstays but must get over frequent injuries.
FC Bayern have had a decent pre-season, defeated by Arsenal but beating Real Madrid, AC Milan and Fenerbahçe. A 2-2 draw against Tottenham in the Audi Cup final was followed by a 2-0 defeat against Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup. Bayern Munich registered their first competitive victory of the season in a 3-1 win against Energie Cottbus in the German Cup.

Robert Lewandowski, Kingsley Coman and Leon Goretzka scored the goals before conceding a last minute penalty.
Nico Kovac’s side are invariably short priced favourites at home and it’s no different here. Bayern Munich can be backed to win at 1.20 with a -1 handicap priced at 1.57 and -2 handicap at 2.40.
Javi Martínez and Jerome Boateng are not fully fit and recent loan signing Ivan Perisic is suspended.

The capital club are beginning life with a new manager after Ante Covic replaced Pál Dárdai. Covic spent just under six years in charge of the reserve side and will be tasked with guiding the club into a European football.
Valentino Lazaro was sold to Inter Milan but the The Old Lady signed Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic to another loan deal. Dedryck Boyata, Eduard Löwen and Daishawn Redan also joined Hertha but the biggest signing has been winger Dodi Lukebakio from Watford for €20 million.
Pre-season saw mixed results but competitive action began with a thumping 5-1 win at Eichstätt in the German Cup. The fourth division club were no match with Vladimir Darida, Vedad Ibisevic (2), Salomon Kalou and Alexander Esswein on the score sheet.
Davie Selke and Dodi Lukebakio came off the bench which provides Covic with plenty of options for the trip to Munich. Hertha are paying 15.00 to pull off an upset win while a draw can be backed at 7.00, a healthy price if you think they can grab a point.
Dedryck Boyata, Marvin Plattenhardt, Peter Pekarik, Arne Maier and Javairo Dilrosun are all injured.

Bayern Munich have won 43 of the 75 matches against Hertha Berlin with 19 draws. Their home record against Hertha in the Bundesliga is impressive, 27 wins from 34 matches with 91 goals scored.
The last time these clubs met was a Bundesliga match in Munich in February. FC Bayern won 1-0 at the Allianz Arena with Javi Martínez heading in a James Rodríguez corner for the winner.
