Bayern Munich begin their campaign in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League with a round of 16 clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Defending has not been the strength of either team and given the attacking quality expected to be on display here, goals are predicted.

Chelsea finished second behind Valencia in group H to secure their place in the round of 16 of the Champions League. They claimed three wins and two draws, keeping just one clean sheet in six Group stage matches.
The Blues head into Tuesday’s match off the back of a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso. It is only the second win in six matches for Frank Lampard’s men who continue to battle with inconsistency. Chelsea have also been plagued by defensive problems and are without a clean sheet in their last six matches. They have conceded two goals three times in that run, losing 2-0 to Manchester United and playing out 2-2 draws against Arsenal and Leicester. Chelsea are without midfielder N’golo Kante who is ruled out with injury. Striker Tammy Abraham has recovered from an ankle problem and competes with Olivier Giroud for a start up front.

Bayern Munich finished the group stage with a 100% record. They head into Tuesdays match off the back of a 3-2 Bundesliga victory over Paderborn with Robert Lewandowski netting a brace after Serge Gnabry had opened the scoring. The German champions have been in good form in recent weeks having gone unbeaten in their last seven matches. They have claimed six wins in that run, including a 3-1 victory over Mainz and a 4-3 triumph against Hoffenheim. The one problem for Bayern is in defence where they have kept just one clean sheet in their last five matches. Bayern Munich are without injured midfielders Leon Goretzka and Ivan Perisic. They are also without defender Niklas Sule but Jerome Boateng is likely to return to centre back after serving a suspension against Paderborn.

Olivier Giroud has impressed for Chelsea in recent matches and will take confidence from his goal against Spurs on Saturday. He is expected to be a handful for the Bayern defence with his aerial and physical presence.
Robert Lewandowski will be the one to watch for Bayern Munich having scored 10 Champions League goals this season. He has also scored 11 goals in his last 10 matches and will be confident of getting past the Chelsea backline.
