Croatia and Spain go head to head on Monday evening for the EURO 2020 round of 16 match. Both teams will be fighting for a place in the Quarter Finals.
Croatia started their EURO 2020 campaign with a disappointing 1-0 defeat against England and managed a 1-1 draw against Czech Republic. Goals from Nikola Vlasic, Luca Modric and Ivan Perisic sealed their qualification in a 3-1 win over Scotland. Croatia have been pretty decent at the back conceding three goals in the group stages and scoring four goals. Head Coach Zlatko Dalic will be looking to field a stronger eleven to stop Spain attacking force. Dominik Livkaovic is to continue in goal. Dejan Lovren is suspended to be replaced with Duje Caleta-Car in defence Sime Vrsaljko looks to return to the starting line-up after being rested mid-week. Mateo Kovacic, Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Peisic are fit and available for selection.
Spain began their EURO 2020 campaign in a frustrating goalless draw against Sweden. They dominated the game with 75% possession and 22-4 shots but failed to find the back of the net. Spain saw draw against Poland in the second group stage match leaving them with just two points. They were able to seal qualification after a 5-0 thrashing of Slovakia saw them finish second place in Group E. Luis Enrique’s men have been solid defensively with two clean sheets and conceding just one goal in the group stages. Unai Simon looks to continue in goal. Aymeric Laporte will partner Pau Torres in defense Captain Sergio Busquets returned to the starting eleven last match and will start again. Alvaro Morata, Gerard Moreno, Koke, Thiago Alcantara are all fit and available for selection.
Spain are unbeaten in their last 11 matches (W5 D6) and have conceded just six goals in that period. Luis Enrique’s side have conceded just one goal and scoring six in EURO 2020 so far. Ferran Torres strike against Slovakia was his sixth goal across his last eight appearance for Spain. Croatia have conceded in all three Euro 2020 games so far with Ivan Perisic being directly involved in six goals in his last five appearances.
