Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews
England Premier League | Selhurst Park | 19th October 2019 17:30
Manchester City should be too strong for Crystal Palace in their Premier League fixture at Selhurst Park. The Citizens have Sergio Aguero in fine form and are backed to ease past Palace.
Crystal Palace earned a 2-1 win at West Ham in their previous Premier League fixture. They fought back from a goal down with Patrick Van Aanholt drawing them level from the spot before Jordan Ayew grabbed the winner. The Eagles have had their ups and downs this season, losing 4-0 to Spurs and also beaten by newly promoted Sheffield United. Roy Hodgson’s men are expected to struggle against a wounded City team and are not favoured to win on Saturday at 10.00 while a draw is set at odds of 6.00.
Manchester City were disappointing in their last outing as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton. It was an uncharacteristically poor performance as they struggled to match the intensity of the visitors. City are already eight points behind Liverpool and will be keen to make a swift return to winning ways. Pep Guardiola’s men often bounce back with emphatic victories following disappointing results, beating Watford 8-0 after the defeat to Norwich. The Citizens won at Selhurst Park last season and are short priced for another win on Saturday at 1.25. With Sergio Aguero already on eight Premier League goals this season, I am backing the striker to score in a comfortable victory for the visitors at 1.80.
Manchester City have some good news on the injury front with Kevin de Bruyne and John Stones returning to training this week and in contention to feature on Saturday. Sergio Aguero could once again be given the nod in attack while Bernardo Silva is likely to return to the starting lineup after playing as a substitute last time out.
Jordan Ayew has been the major source of goals for Crystal Palace this season but is usually inconsistent. The striker has just three goals this season and with Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha combining for just one goal this term they are not expected to trouble the City defence.
City will undoubtedly be boosted by the return of Kevin de Bruyne, whose vision and creativity is vital to the visitors. He should provide the ammunition for Sergio Aguero, who will be confident of adding to his eight goals this season.
PREDICTION : MAN CITY WIN 2-1
ACCUMULATOR TIP : BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
