Goodison Park hosts the 239th Merseyside derby as Liverpool aims to continue their impressive run in the premier league with a win against Everton on Wednesday.

EVERTON RESULTS, STATS, SQUAD

Despite a bright start to the new campaign, an alarming decline has seen the Toffees’ strong opening to the 2021-22 Premier League season firmly consigned to history. Everton became the latest victims of newly-promoted Brentford in their last premier league outing, as an Ivan Toney penalty 24 minutes in was all that was needed to separate the two sides on Sunday. Everton are now winless in the premier league since the 2-0 victory over Norwich in September. Having suffered five defeats from their last six in the Premier League including each of their last three away from home, Everton has slipped to 14th in the table, just six points above the relegation zone. Yerry Mina, Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Andre Gomes are set to miss out through injuries. Richarlison is back from suspension and will replace Rondon in attack.

LIVERPOOL RESULTS, STATS, SQUAD

Liverpool head into this clash in fantastic form. The Reds have wrapped up their Champions League group and they’re coming off successive 4-0 wins in the premier league. Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, and Virgil Van Dijk scored in a 4-0 thrashing over Southampton. A fourth consecutive Anfield win and clean sheet in all competitions saw Liverpool take advantage of Chelsea’s draw against Manchester United to move to within two points of the league leaders. They sit comfortably in the third position and will aim to mount pressure on the top two with a win here. The injured quintet of Naby Keita, Joe Gomez, Harvey Elliott, Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones are still sidelined, but Klopp has a big squad to choose from.

EVERTON VS LIVERPOOL STATS, ODDS, PREDICTION

Liverpool has won eight of their last ten matches, scoring at least twice in all ten. The Reds have scored an impressive 53 goals across their last 17 in all competitions, hitting at least two goals in each of those. Everton has had a poor run of results of late losing five of their last six games. With an injured attack force, Everton has now gone three Premier League games without finding the back of the net. We are backing a comfortable win for Liverpool here.
