Hertha Berlin vs Union Berlin Preview, Bundesliga Predictions & Betting Tips

Hertha Berlin hosts Union Berlin at the Olympiastadion in the Bundesliga on Friday. Hertha have positive momentum with new manager Bruno Labbadia in charge and are great value to beat their crosstown rivals.

Hertha Berlin have had an action packed season on and off the pitch but appear to have found some stability. New manager Bruno Labbadia got off to a great start with a 3-0 win at Hoffenheim.
They went ahead through an own goal before goals to Vedad Ibisevic and Matheus Cunha. Arne Maier came off the bench and hit the woodwork in added time. The victory came after a 3-3 draw at Fortuna Dusseldorf where they were 3-0 down at half time and a 2-2 home draw against Werder Bremen where they were 2-0 down after six minutes. Central defender Karim Rekik remains injured but defenders Dedryck Boyata and Peter Pekarík recovered from injury to start at Hoffenheim. Central midfielder Vladimir Darida is available after suspension.  Winger Matthew Leckie is injured. Forward Salomon Kalou has been suspended by the club and has played his last game for Hertha.

Union Berlin have been inconsistent in their debut Bundesliga campaign. They won 2-1 at Eintracht Frankfurt before giving up a 2-0 lead at home in a 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg. Union were eliminated from the German Cup after a 3-1 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen. They lost 3-1 at Freiburg before the break and suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich on Sunday. Manager Urs Fischer could be back on the bench after missing the Bayern match.  Centre back Marvin Friedrich returns from suspension. Winger Sheraldo Becker is injured alongside attacking midfielders Yunus Malli and Akaki Gogia.

This will be the first Hertha Berlin vs Union Berlin Bundesliga derby at the Olympiastadion but there will be no fans inside the stadium. How that affects the teams remains to be seen. Hertha Berlin can continue to improve under new manager Bruno Labbadia. I think there is great value on a home win here.
