Lazio vs Hellas Verona Serie A Betting Tips, Predictions and Odds

Lazio host Hellas Verona in Serie A on Saturday. Lazio can edge closer to the top four when they meet a Verona side they have dominated in recent years.

Lazio come into this match after successfully qualifying for the UEFA Champions League knockout stages. Their 2-2 draw against Club Brugge was enough to see them through with Joaquin Correa and Ciro Immobile scoring first half goals.  In Serie A Lazio sit seventh after 10 matches. They bounced back well from their 3-1 loss to Udinese by defeating Spezia 2-1 away from. Immobile and Milinkovic-Savic both scored in the narrow victory to put Lazio within four points off second place.  After winning last season’s Serie A golden boot, Immobile has continued his impressive form with 12 goals this season in all competitions – six each in the league and UEFA Champions League. Captain Senad Lulic may have to wait a few more weeks before making his long-awaited recovery from injury. The 34-year-old has been out of action for several months due to an ankle injury.  The same goes for forward Vedat Muriqi who has been out of action for the last two weeks after he went down with a muscular injury. In positive news for Lazio, Correa made a successful return during the week from injury and will feature against Hellas Verona. 

Following consecutive losses to Sassuolo (2-0) and Cagliari (2-1) in the league and Coppa Italia respectively, Hellas Verona bounced back with two strong performances. Second half goals from Miguel Veloso and Mattia Zaccagni saw them defeat Atalanta 2-0 away from home. This was followed up by a 1-1 draw with Cagliari in Serie A with Zaccagni scoring for the second straight week.  Hellas Verona currently sit eighth in Serie A – four points outside the top four. Defender Matteo Lovato made a full return from injury last week – playing 35 minutes off the bench. Fellow defender Koray Gunter is a chance to return for the trip to Lazio while striker Nikola Kalinic will miss again due to a quad strain.  Midfielder Marco Benassi will also miss another week with a calf injury.

The last time these two sides met ended in a 5-1 victory to Lazio. Ciro Immobile scored a hattrick, while Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Joaquin Correa also found the back of the net. Lazio have dominated this fixture in recent history, winning seven of their last ten meetings. The last time Hellas Verona won away to Lazio was in 1984. Lazio put the sword to Hellas Verona in their last meeting and will be looking to continue their UEFA Champions League momentum. Hellas Verona have only won one of their last 14 away matches and still have several players out injured.
