Juventus should have the upper hand in their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash against Lyon at the Groupama Stadium. Juventus’ maturity and know-how is expected to serve them well against Lyon who also have the in-form Cristiano Ronaldo to contend with.

Lyon head into Wednesday’s match off the back of a 2-0 Ligue 1 victory at Metz with Moussa Dembele and Houssem Aouar getting the goals. Rudi Garcia’s men have claimed just two wins in their last six matches. They lost 2-1 at Nice while a 4-2 defeat against PSG is also among their recent results. Lyon were not convincing in the Champions League group stage as they claimed just two wins from six matches to finish second behind RB Leipzig. Lyon have a lengthy injury list with Memphis Depay, Jeff Reine-Adelaide and Oumar Solet all ruled out. Youssouf Kone and Leo Dubois are also sidelined with injury.

Juventus were unbeaten during the group stage of the Champions League and progressed to the round of 16 as Group D winners. They secured a 2-1 victory over SPAL in a Serie A fixture on Saturday with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a record-equalling 11th consecutive Serie A goal. It was the second straight win for Juventus who also claimed a 2-0 victory over Brescia in their previous fixture. Maurizio Sarri’s men have been driven by Cristiano Ronaldo who has been in rich goalscoring form.Juventus are without a number of players with Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Douglas Costa all sidelined with injury. Samir Khedira and Merih Demiral are also on the treatment table and ruled out of Wednesday’s match.

Lyon’s major problem this season has been in defence where they have conceded six goals in their last four matches. They have also not been convincing in attack where Moussa Dembele has scored just once in his last three matches. Cristiano Ronaldo will be the one to watch for Juventus having scored 13 goals in his last nine matches. He will be supported by Paulo Dybala who scored three goals during the group stage of the competition.
