MANCHESTER CITY RESULTS, STATS, SQUAD
With the 2021-22 Premier League now halfway, Manchester City are now favorites to defend their crown after a scintillating streak since early November. Their 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle last weekend followed on from an even heftier demolition of Leeds, leaving them with 44 goals scored and just nine conceded in their 18 league games so far. Amid an incredible run that shows no sign of ending, Manchester City has not only established a three-point Premier League lead but also registered 11 goals without reply in their two most recent outings. Manchester City has scored over 2.5 goals on ten occasions in all competitions this season. They have won to nil in each of their last three games, scoring an average of 4.0 goals per game. City are relatively free by injury or illness, with only two men expected to miss out on Leicester’s visit. Kyle Walker is set to miss out due to fitness issues, while Ferran Torres – who is still recovering from a foot injury remains unavailable. Pep is however expected to rotate his frontline.
LEICESTER RESULTS, STATS, SQUAD
Leicester has had a rollercoaster season so far. Having been eliminated from the Europa League earlier in December, more woe followed on Wednesday night as Leicester missed out on a place in the EFL Cup semi-finals by losing on penalties to Liverpool. After establishing a 3-1 lead by just after the half-hour mark, the Foxes seemed set to seal a place in the semi-final, but Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino took the contest to penalties when he fired a late equalizer past Kasper Schmeichel. Almost inevitably, Leicester then went out of the cup in a dramatic spot-kick shootout, with Ryan Bertrand’s miss proving pivotal. Brendan Rodgers’ men are currently ninth in the Premier League table, with 22 points – ten adrift top four. Leicester are without a Premier League clean sheet away from home this season. Harvey Barnes Jonny Evans, Wesley Fofana, and Timothy Castagne are ruled out with injuries. Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy are major doubts. With Leicester plagued by defensive injuries, it would be hard to see them stand a chance against City’s lethal attack force.
