Qarabag vs APOEL Nicosia Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips
UEFA Champions League | Tofiq Bahramov | 13th August 17.30
Qarabag and APOEL Nicosia are set to serve up goals in their UEFA Champions League third round qualifying second leg. Both teams played out an open contest in the first leg and are tipped to produce BTTS at odds of 2.00
Qarabag hold an advantage from the first leg having come away from Nicosia with a 2-1 victory. They went two goals up thanks to efforts from Mahir Emreli and Magaye Gueye before the hosts pulled one back deep into added time.
The Azerbaijani team are unbeaten in this year’s Champions League and are attempting to reach the playoff stage for the first time ever. Gurban Gurbanov’s men are priced at 2.25 for a win on Tuesday but having conceded in two of their last three matches, BTTS should be considered.
Mahir Emreli has been excellent for Qarabag in recent matches with two goals in his last three appearances. The forward is set to feature in attack on Tuesday while Magaye Gueye is likely to be given a start after coming off the bench to good effect last time out.
APOEL Nicosia were disappointing in the first leg as they suffered a 2-1 defeat at home. They conceded twice in the second half before grabbing a consolation through Giorgios Merkis in the fifth minute of injury time.
It was the first defeat in the competition for the Cypriots, who had impressed in their previous outings. Paolo Tramezzani’s men are valued at odds of 3.20 but I have gone for BTTS here as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five away matches in the Champions League.
Andrija Pavlovic should continue in attack having scored a hat-trick in the previous round against Sutjeska. He is likely to be supported by Tomas De Vincenti and Moussa Al Tamari, who have also impressed in recent weeks.
Mahir Emreli will be the one to watch for Qarabag following a series of impressive performances in recent matches. He grabbed the opener in the first leg and will be confident of once again getting past the Nicosia defence.
Andrija Pavlovic will be the man tasked with providing the spark for Nicosia with his pace on the left. He often combines well with Tomas De Vincenti and both men should trouble the Qarabag backline.
