Tottenham vs Man City Premier League Betting Tips, Predictions & Odds

Tottenham face Man City in the game of the Premier League weekend on Saturday. Jose Mourinho’s team have the chance to go top of the table for at least 24 hours with a win.

Tottenham have established themselves as early title contenders in the Premier League this season after making a strong start. Spurs are currently sat in 2nd place in the Premier League table and have won eight of their last 10 matches in all competitions. In the league, they have won 5 of their last 7 matches. Included in that run is a 6-1 win over Manchester United, while they have also won their last three league matches. Those wins came against Burnley, Brighton and West Brom. The latter victory was their last match and came courtesy of an 88th minute winner from striker Harry Kane. Matt Doherty is ruled out with illness. Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwijn are all struggling with knocks.

Man City will know how important it is for them to earn a result in this fixture, with defeat leaving them eight points behind their opponents in the Premier League table. Pep Guardiola’s team have been stuttering in the league of late, winning just two of their last six matches. Both were 1-0 wins, coming against Arsenal and Sheffield United. During that time they have also lost 5-2 against Leicester, alongside three draws. Those draws have come against West Ham, Leeds and Liverpool last time out. Having fallen behind to a Mohamed Salah penalty, Gabriel Jesus ensured they would earn a point from the champions. Manchester City are unlikely to be able to call upon Raheem Sterling or Sergio Aguero, who are struggling with knocks. Defender Nathan Ake was injured on international duty, while Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho are also doubts. Lining up with potentially no Aguero or Sterling, this will be a tough task for City who have stuttered of late.

Spurs will likely sit and look to play on the counter attack with Kane, Son and Bale against a City team that almost always dominate possession. Tottenham look to be legitimate title contenders this season, while Man City still haven’t really got going in the Premier League. Given City’s injuries, I’m siding with Spurs in this fixture.
