Wales vs Croatia Betting Tips
Euro 2020 | Cardiff City Stadium | 13th October 2019 19:45
Wales and Croatia are set to produce an open contest in their Euro 2020 qualifier at the Cardiff City Stadium. Both teams have struggled to keep clean sheets which makes BTTS a viable tip.
Wales were held to a 1-1 draw by Slovakia last time out in the qualifiers after taking a first half lead through Kieffer Moore. The result means Ryan Giggs’ men remain fourth in Group E with a game in hand.
Wales have failed to win in three of their last four qualifying matches and are priced at 3.10 for an win against the 2018 World Cup finalists with a draw set at 3.30.
Kieffer Moore could once again be given the nod in attack after scoring his first international goal last time out. He should be joined in attack by Gareth Bale while Harry Wilson is likely to return to the starting lineup after coming off the bench in Slovakia.
Croatia ran out 3-0 winners over Hungary in their previous qualifying fixture. Luka Modric opened the scoring in the fifth minute while Bruno Petkovic got a brace to seal the win. Croatia are three points clear at the top of Group E having won three of their last four qualifying matches. They are priced at 2.50 to win in Cardiff at 2.50 but having conceded in six of their last seven away matches across all competitions, I am tipping BTTS as my best bet.
Bruno Petkovic has been the star of the show for Croatia in recent matches with four goals in his last five international matches. He should be joined in attack by the impressive Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic while Luca Modric should retain his place in midfield. Croatia have never lost to Wales with four wins and a draw from five previous matches. The Croats earned a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture in Zagreb with Ivan Perisic netting the winner.
Welsh star Gareth Bale will be the one to watch for the hosts with most of the team’s attacking play going through the Real Madrid forward. With Harry Wilson, Daniel James and Kieffer Moore providing support, they should have enough to trouble Croatia. Bruno Petkovic appears to be the go-to-man for Croatia at the moment and the striker will hope to add to his tally of four goals in his last five matches. With the pace of Ante Rebic and Ivan Perisic in the wide areas and the creativity of Luka Modric in midfield the Croats have the quality to get the better of Wales.
