Watford vs Manchester City Betting Tips, Predictions & Odds

Watford face the daunting task of taking points off Manchester City at Vicarage Road in the English Premier League on Tuesday. With potential relegation hanging over the hosts’ head they will need to put in a massive performance to take something from the game. Watford have however beaten Liverpool at home this season so there will be some belief.

Watford’s fight against relegation continues as they find themselves three points clear but with two tough final fixtures.  Since their 3-0 loss at Chelsea Watford beat Norwich City and Newcastle United 2-1 at home. In both matches Watford had to come back from a goal down. Their last match is what will disappoint manager Nigel Pearson. The 3-1 loss at West Ham United has put them in the thick of it and if Bournemouth or Aston Villa get a result over the weekend the pressure will be huge on Watford. Watford were 3-0 down before the break at West Ham but their second half performance will give the supporters hope. Troy Deeney managed to pull a goal back but it was never going to be enough. Right-back Daryl Janmaat and winger Gerard Deaulofeu both remain out for this crucial clash.

Manchester City have been flying since the return to Premier League action. Despite a 1-0 loss at Southampton the Citizens have been incredible since.  First they defeated Newcastle 5-0 at home before taking Brighton apart by the same scoreline away. In their last match City beat Bournemouth 2-1. It was a nervy ending after David Silva and Gabriel Jesus gave them a 2-0 lead at the break. City lost 2-0 to Arsenal on Saturday evening in the FA Cup semi final and will be looking to bounce back. Striker Sergio Aguero is out for the season, but Pep Guardiola may make changes after the weekend defeat.

Historically Watford doesn’t enjoy facing Manchester City and have lost their last two matches against the Citizens 6-0 and 8-0. Given the relegation scrap Watford one would expect the hosts to put up more of a fight in this one though. I’m backing Manchester City to win and over 3.5 goals in the match. Watford need a result and tend to score at home so BTTS Yes looks a solid bet.
